Local 495 Secretary-Treasurer Damascus Castellanos has been reappointed to a term as a commissioner of the California Horse Racing Board by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The appointment requires confirmation by the state Senate.

Castellanos’ first term as a commissioner began in 2020. He is a member of the California Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Foundation. Teamsters Local 495 has jurisdiction for Teamsters working at California racetracks.
