Strike Averted as Hawai’i Teamsters Ratify Historic Four-Year Contract
Nearly 1,400 members of Teamsters Local 996 have ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement with Oʻahu Transit Services, delivering significant wage increases and expanded health benefits.
The agreement, which covers TheBus drivers, mechanics, and office and administrative staff, runs from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2029.
By reaching a fair deal through strong negotiations, Teamsters successfully averted a strike while securing meaningful improvements for transit workers across Oʻahu.
This victory highlights the strength of collective bargaining and the power of solidarity.
