Who We Are
Teamsters Joint Council 42 is the largest Joint Council in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), representing 22 Teamster Local Unions located in Southern California, Southern Nevada, Hawaii, and Guam. Nearly 250,000 working Teamsters and retirees are affiliated with the JC 42 family.
As a Joint Council, JC 42 serves as the regional coordinating body between the IBT’s international headquarters and the affiliated Local Unions under its jurisdiction. We provide leadership, resources, and coordination to strengthen the collective power of our locals, advance workers’ rights, and deliver results at the bargaining table, in the legislature, and on the job.

What We Do
Joint Council 42 fights every day to protect and advance the interests of Teamster members and their families through four pillars of action.
Contract Enforcement
We coordinate contract negotiations and grievance enforcement across our 22 affiliated locals, ensuring members receive the wages, benefits, and workplace protections they have earned.
Political Action
JC 42 is one of the most politically active labor councils in the nation — endorsing pro-worker candidates, lobbying for legislation that protects working families, and mobilizing members to vote.
Organizing
We help workers join the Teamster family by supporting organizing campaigns across Southern California, Nevada, Hawaii, and Guam — bringing the power of collective bargaining to new workplaces.

From benefits administration to legal resources, JC 42 connects members with the support they need — and ensures their voices are heard at every level of the union structure.
